I've previously discussed how New Democrats can leverage public distrust of the Earnscliffe Party to bolster their own credibility.

In the past two days, however, polls have shown a creeping Conservative advance -- even the possibility of a Conservative minority government.

While Stephen Harper makes gains amongst centrists, fear of a Tory resurgence may send scared New Democrats back to the Grits.

A change in equilibrium requires a change in stratagem.

The NDP can still gain credibilty by attacking the Liberal record of broken promises, but New Democrats will also have to turn their fire toward Conservatives. Even then, they must do so in a manner that won't move left-leaning Liberals toward Martin.

It's a tall order.

Three components seem key:

  • Paint the Liberals and Conservatives as identical
  • Enhance the NDP's credibility by attacking the Liberal record
  • Attack Conservative opposition to broken Liberal promises
  • Healthcare, home care, child care and education.

Do we choose the Liberals, who've broken these promises, or the Conservatives, who never supported them to begin with?

We'll keep the promises that Liberals break and Conservatives ignore.

You can trust us to fufill those promises -- because we're just as angry as you are that the Liberals broke them.
